CLPI Action Network

The CLPI Action Network is the web of relationships that work collectively to accelerate nonprofit advocacy and lobbying.

Working together, we can more effectively reach more nonprofits, as well as policy makers that influence current and future nonprofit lobbying laws.  CLPI   builds the CLPI Action Network through strategic partnerships with national network organizations such as the Alliance for Nonprofit Management and United Way of America to more proactively and systematically reach their members and affiliates at state and regional levels.  CLPI Training Fellows, Advocates, and Ambassadors work with CLPI staff and Board members to support and advance the Network’s goals.

With this breadth and diversity, the CLPI Action Network not only expands CLPI’s own organizational effectiveness, but also builds connections among the participating organizations.  Network participants also provide critical feedback to continuously improve CLPI’s trainings and materials.  All participants of the CLPI Action Network work together to fulfill CLPI’s mission and strengthen the nonprofit sector.

Key Roles in the Network

§         The target audiences for CLPI’s trainings and materials are nonprofit leaders, volunteers and staff as well as public policymakers.

§         Strategic Partners are national network organizations that collaborate with CLPI on public policy activities and/or advocacy trainings to the Strategic Partners’ members or affiliates at state and regional levels.

§         CLPI Training Fellows extend the CLPI staff’s capacity to meet the growing need for lobbying and advocacy training.  They undergo intensive training in CLPI’s philosophy and pedagogy and also contribute to an evolving curriculum adaptable to various training needs.  Training Fellows complement CLPI’s national perspective with their “on-the-ground” experience as advocates, trainers, and nonprofit practitioners on a range of issues in communities around the country.

§         CLPI Advocates refer nonprofits to CLPI for assistance, spread the word about CLPI’s services, and organize training opportunities for CLPI.

§         As opinion leaders and influencers, CLPI Ambassadors spread CLPI’s message to the nonprofit sector, policymakers, funders and the general public.  Ambassadors primarily consist of CEOs or other high-level staff at prominent organizations.

§         The NonprofitAdvocacy Coalition, with CLPI as a founding member, works to protect and improve nonprofit lobbying and advocacy laws.

§         CLPI President, Staff, Board and Consultants provide the operational expertise that allows the CLPI Action Network to function effectively.
